Step 01: Access your Google Search Console Account
You must create a Google Search Account for your website if you need to submit a sitemap. It is a MUST condition!
After creating, access your search console account. Visit https://search.google.com/search-console/ and sign in using your current credentials.
When you log in, the Google Search Console dashboard will look like this.
Step 02: Select the correct property (correct website)
The second step is to select the correct property (In Google Search Console Property means the website). If you have more than one property under your Google Search Console account, you have to select the relevant property to which you want to add a user / give permission.
Click the dropdown in the top left-hand corner and select your property.
Step 03: Click the Settings menu

1.Owner: An owner holds complete control over properties within Search Console. Owners can add and remove other users, adjust settings, access all data, and use all tools.
A property must have at least one verified owner; otherwise, no users will have access. There are two types of owners, both with identical permissions:
Verified Owner: An individual who has verified ownership of the property using a token (such as an uploaded HTML file). To add or remove a verified owner, you must add or remove a token on the site.
The “Verified Owner” status holds significant importance within Google Search Console. As a Verified Owner, you receive the highest level of access to a site.
This role allows you to not only view all data about your website’s search performance but also empowers you to execute critical actions such as:
Modifying settings.
Removing URLs from search results.
Sharing access with others.
Delegated Owner: An individual granted ownership status by a verified owner without the need for a verification token (e.g., via user management screen).
To add or remove a delegated owner, any type of owner can simply act within the Search Console user management screen.
2.Full User: Has viewing rights to all data and can perform certain actions. The “Full User” permission level is below the owner statuses, offering comprehensive access to view most data and take some actions, but with certain limitations.
A Full User can see all GSC reports and perform some functions like submitting sitemaps and viewing settings, but crucially, they cannot modify user access or certain site settings.
It’s a role that offers in-depth insight without the broader control of ownership. Perfect for those who need to understand and work with the data extensively but don’t need the full suite of administrative permissions.
3.Restricted User: Has basic viewing rights over most data. The “Restricted User” permission is the most limited access level in the Google Search Console. This role permits individuals to view most report data but prevents them from taking any actions.
They can’t submit sitemaps, modify settings, or access user-specific data like messages or some security issues.
This access level is particularly ideal for team members or external partners who need to grasp your site’s performance but don’t need the ability to make changes.
4.Associate: Individuals or accounts permitted to perform specific actions on behalf of your site or access particular data. Associates can’t directly access or view your Search Console account or data but are empowered to carry out designated tasks.
Associates are given restricted permissions for specific Google services associated with your site, such as Google Analytics or YouTube, but they don’t have access to the main GSC data or settings.
This role is intended to facilitate integration between your website and other Google services, enabling associates to configure settings and view relevant data in those particular services without accessing GSC’s wider insights and controls.
Managing User Permissions | Removing a User
